About Me

Welcome to my private practice! My name is Karen Andrea James. I hold a master’s degree in Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology and a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Marywood University. I am a National Certified Counselor certified by the National Board for Certified Counselors. I am also a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor and I am under supervision working towards my LPC licensure in Pennsylvania.

I am passionate about working with men to help them resolve past and present struggles by providing them with a safe, compassionate, non-judgmental space where they can be authentic and free.

I work collaboratively with each client to identify areas of struggles and develop realistic goals that are tailored for each individual client to help them achieve optimal wellness and healing.

I work with adult male and females struggling with with a wide variety of concerns, and I am passionate about working with males who have survived various childhood traumas including sexual abuse, physical abuse, and neglect. My other focus is working with couples to resolve conflicts to rebuild and restore their relationship. I work with couples to develop healthy tools to empower themselves as individuals and to be able to move forward together in a healthier manner.

From a therapeutic perspective, I combine my training in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with Psychodynamic Theory. I utilize the Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Family Systems Theory and Structural Family Therapy. The interventions I primarily incorporate with my clients are Person Centered Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy and Narrative Therapy.

In my free time, I enjoy just simply laying on my couch and watching sappy Hallmark romance movies, playing scrabble, cooking various international dishes, and doing volunteer work in my community.
